Cardanasmanchet dicht de telescopische schuifverbinding van de cardanas af, werkend binnen de aandrijflijn.

De manchet past over de splineverbinding die de cardanas in lengte laat variëren wanneer de as door de veerweg beweegt. Het houdt het smeervet in de verbinding en sluit straatvuil en water uit, waardoor de splines worden beschermd tegen slijtage en corrosie.
