Kettingspanner voor de Td5 2.5L 5-cilinder turbodiesel, onderdeel van de distributiekettingaandrijving aan de voorzijde van de motor.

De spanner werkt tegen de kettinggeleider om de distributieketting onder gecontroleerde spanning te houden, en vangt speling op naarmate de ketting slijt, zodat de kleptiming nauwkeurig blijft en de ketting niet tegen de geleiders slaat. Een defecte of zwakke spanner veroorzaakt kettinggerammel en timingfouten en versnelt de slijtage van de ketting, geleiders en tandwielen.
