Frequently asked questions

What does the rear propshaft coupling do?

The rear propshaft coupling is a flexible rubber joint that connects the rear propeller shaft to the drive flange. It transmits drive while absorbing torsional shock and allowing for small amounts of angular misalignment between the shaft and the flange, giving smoother, quieter drivetrain operation.

What's included in this coupling kit?

This kit includes the rubber coupling plus the fixing bolts needed to secure it. Supplying the bolts together means the coupling can be renewed complete with fresh hardware, rather than reusing the old bolts. It's supplied for the rear propshaft position.

Which Land Rover models does this rear coupling fit?

This rear coupling kit fits the Discovery 1, Discovery 2 (1998-2004), Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38 (1994-2001). Several have VIN breakpoints, for example the P38 from VIN TA321929 and Classic from VIN MA647645, so check your VIN to confirm.

What are the signs a propshaft coupling needs replacing?

A worn propshaft coupling typically shows cracked or perished rubber, a clunk when taking up drive, or vibration through the floor at speed. As the rubber degrades it lets the flanges move out of true, which can accelerate wear on the propshaft and its joints if left.
