The LUF100430 is the rear crankshaft oil seal for the 2.5L 300 TDi engine. It seals the crankshaft at the rear of the block against the bellhousing, preventing oil from reaching the flywheel or clutch. It supersedes earlier codes ERR6818 and ERR4179.

This fits the Defender (from VIN WA138480), Discovery 1 (VIN FA393361 to WA799999), and Range Rover Classic (from VIN JA610294). All three use the 2.5L 300 TDi engine with the same rear seal specification.
When should the 300 TDi rear crankshaft seal be replaced?
Replace the LUF100430 when oil is leaking at the rear of the engine onto the bellhousing or clutch. Fit a new seal whenever the gearbox is out, as the additional labour cost of a second visit far outweighs the cost of a new seal.
