Krukas kering vooraan voor de 2.5L 300TDi turbo dieselmotor. Het past rond de krukasneus aan de voorkant van de motor en dicht het punt af waar de krukas door de distributiedeksel loopt.

De afdichting loopt tegen de roterende krukas aan om olie aan de voorkant van de motor vast te houden en lekkage langs de as te voorkomen. Het is gevormd uit Viton (FKM) voor weerstand tegen hitte en olie.

The ERR4575G is a front crankshaft oil seal for the 2.5L 300TDi diesel engine. It seals the crankshaft nose where it passes through the timing cover, running against the rotating shaft to keep engine oil in. Fitted to Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic 300TDi models.

Why does the front crankshaft seal fail on a 300TDi?

The front crankshaft seal fails when its lip hardens with heat and age or wears a groove into the crankshaft surface, letting oil weep from the front of the engine. Replace it when you see oil at the crank nose, ideally while the timing belt and front cover are already off.

What's the best time to replace this crankshaft seal?

Replace this front crankshaft seal during a timing belt change on the 300TDi, since the front cover has to come off either way. Doing both together saves a second strip-down. Fit the seal square with a seal driver to avoid distorting the lip.
