Klepsteekafdichting voor de cilinderkopklepbediening op TDV6- en TDV8-dieselmotoren. Deze afdichting, aangebracht op zowel inlaat- als uitlaatkleppen, wordt op de klepsteelgeleider gedrukt en voorkomt dat motorolie langs de klepsteel de verbrandingskamer wordt ingetrokken.

Voor 2.7 en 3.0 TDV6-motoren is een volledige set van 24 afdichtingen vereist; voor 3.6 en 4.4 TDV8-motoren zijn 32 afdichtingen vereist. Afdichtingen worden vervangen tijdens het verwijderen of reviseren van de cilinderkop en worden hier per stuk geleverd.

How many valve stem seals are needed for a full engine rebuild?
A full set of 24 seals is needed for the 2.7 and 3.0 TDV6 engines, and 32 seals for the 3.6 and 4.4 TDV8 engines. These are sold individually, so order the full count for your engine. They're replaced during cylinder head removal or a valvetrain rebuild.
What are the signs a valve stem seal needs replacing?
Worn valve stem seals typically show as blue-grey smoke from the exhaust on startup or after idling, along with rising oil consumption on TDV6 and TDV8 diesels. The seals harden and lose their grip on the valve stem over time, letting oil seep into the combustion chamber. They're usually renewed whenever the cylinder head is off.
Where in the engine is the valve stem seal located?
The valve stem seal sits at the top of each valve guide in the cylinder head, where the valve stem passes through into the port. On these TDV6 and TDV8 diesel engines it seals both inlet and exhaust valves. Reaching it means removing the cylinder head or camshafts, so it's a specialist engine job.
