Frequently asked questions

What does this rocker shaft do?

It's the long rocker shaft for the 2.6L six-cylinder petrol engine valvetrain. It mounts on the cylinder head and carries the rocker arms, giving them their pivot axis as they transfer pushrod motion to the valves.

Is there an aftermarket version of this rocker shaft?

No, this is a Genuine Land Rover part and no aftermarket equivalent is currently manufactured. If you need this rocker shaft, the Genuine part is the only option available.

Which engine is this shaft specific to?

It's built for the 2.6L six-cylinder petrol engine fitted to Series Land Rovers. This is specifically the long rocker shaft variant referenced in the part name, so match it against your engine's original shaft length before ordering.

Why would a rocker shaft need replacing?

Rocker shafts wear at the rocker arm bushes over time and high mileage, leading to increased valve train noise, uneven valve clearances, or oil starvation to the rocker arms. Replace it if you notice excessive top-end rattle or the bushes show visible wear or scoring.
