Buitenste afdichting voordeur, gemonteerd langs de bovenzijde van het buitenste voorpaneel van de voordeur, om de verbinding tussen het buitenpaneel en het raam in de deur af te dichten.

Deze rubberen strip veegt tegen de buitenkant van het raam terwijl het omhoog en omlaag beweegt, om te voorkomen dat water via het buitenpaneel in de deurholte terechtkomt en om windgeruis bij het raamkanaal te beperken.

ALR5980 is the front door outer waist seal for the Land Rover Defender up to 2016. It runs along the upper edge of the front door outer panel and wipes against the exterior face of the drop glass as it rises and falls, preventing water from tracking down the outer panel into the door cavity.

What problems does a worn ALR5980 outer waist seal cause?

A worn or split outer waist seal allows water into the door cavity, leading to rust on the lower door shell over time. It also allows wind noise into the cabin at the glass channel. The seal is easy to miss but is one of the most common Defender water entry points. Alternative code is MTC8474.
