Frequently asked questions

What does this exhaust valve do?
This exhaust valve controls the exhaust port on the 2.5L diesel, opening during the exhaust stroke to expel burnt gases from the cylinder. It's driven by the rocker arm assembly off the camshaft. It seals the port for compression on the following cycle.
Which engines does this exhaust valve fit?
This exhaust valve fits the Defender 2.5L diesel and 2.5L turbo diesel engines. It's the exhaust-side valve for the four-cylinder diesel cylinder head. Confirm your engine is the 2.5L diesel or turbo diesel before ordering, as other capacities and the petrol heads use different valves.
Why do exhaust valves need replacing?
Exhaust valves need replacing when heat and high mileage cause them to burn, pit or recede, which loses compression and brings rough running or misfires. They're usually renewed during a cylinder head overhaul. The exhaust valves typically show wear sooner than the inlet valves on diesel engines.
