Thermostaat - 88°C voor het koelsysteem van V8 benzinemotoren.

De thermostaat regelt de koelvloeistofstroom tussen het motorblok en de radiateur, waardoor de motor snel op bedrijfstemperatuur komt door de koelvloeistofcirculatie door de radiateur te blokkeren wanneer deze koud is. Zodra de koelvloeistoftemperatuur 88°C bereikt, opent de thermostaat geleidelijk om circulatie door de radiateur mogelijk te maken en een stabiele werktemperatuur te handhaven. Een defecte thermostaat – open of gesloten – verstoort het thermische beheer van de motor, wat leidt tot oververhitting of het niet bereiken van de juiste bedrijfstemperatuur.
