What is the GA1070 front door hinge kit and which side does it mount on?
The GA1070 is the body-side front door hinge kit for the Land Rover Defender (1986-2016, including Puma) and Series 3. It provides the hinge leaves and fixings that bolt to the door pillar on the vehicle body, forming the pivot point the front door hangs from. This is the body-pillar side only, not the door-leaf side.
What's the difference between the body-side and door-side hinge kits?
The body-side kit (GA1070) contains the hinge components that mount to the door pillar on the Defender or Series 3 body. The door-side hinge attaches to the door itself. A full front door hinge renewal needs both sides. GA1070 covers the pillar-mounted half only. Ordering the wrong side is a common mistake on Defender hinge jobs.
Does the GA1070 fit the Defender Puma as well as earlier models?
The GA1070 is confirmed for the Land Rover Defender from 1986 to 2016, including the Puma TDCi variant, and the Series 3. The fitment data confirms these share the same front door body-side hinge specification across the full pre-2016 Defender production run.
