The STC3758 is a belt-driven water pump for the engine cooling circuit on Land Rover Series 2, 2A, and 3 with the 2.25L petrol or 2.25L diesel engine. '9-hole' refers to the number of bolt holes on the mounting flange, distinguishing it from the earlier 5-hole type used on some Series variants.
Why does a water pump fail on a Series 2.25 engine, and what are the warning signs?
Water pumps on these engines typically fail through bearing wear or impeller erosion. Signs include a visible coolant weep from the pump body or behind the pulley, a rumbling or grinding noise from the front of the engine, or unexplained coolant loss without an obvious external leak.
What are the fitment exclusions for the STC3758?
This pump is not for 24-volt military applications, which use a different pump specification, and covers the non-viscous pump type only. Confirm your vehicle isn't a military 24V build before ordering. It also doesn't cover the 2.6L 6-cylinder or later TDi engines.
