Genuine Part
Genuine: Original manufacturer part. This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor measures exhaust gas temperature at the front of the diesel particulate filter, in the upstream section of the after-treatment system.

It feeds a temperature signal to the engine ECU, which uses it to control diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration and to protect the DPF and catalyst from overheating. Fitted to V6 and V8 diesel engines equipped with a DPF.

Frequently asked questions

What does the exhaust gas temperature sensor do?
The exhaust gas temperature sensor measures exhaust temperature at the front of the diesel particulate filter. It feeds a signal to the engine ECU, which uses it to control DPF regeneration and protect the after-treatment system from overheating on Land Rover diesels.
Where is this EGT sensor fitted?
This EGT sensor sits at the front of the diesel particulate filter, in the upstream section of the exhaust after-treatment system. It's the front sensor, ahead of the DPF, on the diesel exhaust of the listed Discovery and Range Rover models.
What are the signs this sensor has failed?
A failed exhaust gas temperature sensor typically triggers an engine warning light and DPF or emissions fault codes, and can block regeneration. Symptoms usually include limp mode or repeated failed regens on these diesels. Replacing the sensor restores correct DPF control.
Which models does this front EGT sensor fit?
This front EGT sensor fits the Discovery 3 and 4, Range Rover L322 and L405, and Range Rover Sport L320 and L494 diesels. Engine and VIN breaks vary by model, so use your VIN to confirm the correct sensor for your after-treatment layout.
