Dual Battery Management System - a microprocessor-controlled split-charge controller for a two-battery electrical setup.

It manages a starter battery and a separate auxiliary battery: while the engine runs the two are linked through a heavy-duty power relay so both charge from the alternator, and when the engine stops they are automatically separated so auxiliary loads cannot drain the starter battery. A manual override links the batteries on demand - for load sharing when jump starting or running high-current equipment such as a winch, inverter or compressor - before reverting to automatic operation.

The system supports auxiliary equipment such as fridge-freezers, inverters and lighting. It is supplied with a wiring loom (with sealed connector and battery/crimp terminals) and a dash-mounted battery monitor that displays the charge level of both batteries and the alternator charging voltage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Dual Battery Management System and what does it do?
The Dual Battery Management System is a microprocessor-controlled split-charge controller for a two-battery setup. It links the starter and auxiliary batteries through a heavy-duty relay so both charge from the alternator while the engine runs, then separates them when the engine stops so accessory loads can't drain the starter battery.
What's included in the kit?
The kit includes the battery management controller, a wiring loom with a sealed connector and battery and crimp terminals, and a dash-mounted battery monitor. The monitor displays the charge level of both batteries and the alternator charging voltage.
What is the manual override for?
The manual override links both batteries on demand for load sharing, typically when jump starting or running high-current equipment like a winch, inverter or compressor. It then reverts to automatic operation so accessory loads can't flatten the starter battery.
Is this a straightforward fit?
Fitting the Dual Battery Management System is typically an auto-electrical job rather than a plug-in accessory, since it wires between the alternator, starter battery and a separate auxiliary battery. The supplied sealed-connector loom and crimp terminals help, but confident electrical skills are usually needed.
