Front Wheel Hub and Bearing Assembly is the pre-assembled hub unit at the front axle, combining the wheel hub, its bearing and the ABS wheel speed sensor in a single serviceable unit.

It mounts to the front hub carrier and provides the wheel mounting face and studs, while the integral bearing carries the radial and axial loads from vehicle weight, cornering and drivetrain torque and allows the hub to rotate. The built-in sensor reads wheel speed for the ABS and stability control systems.

Supplied as a complete assembly with the ABS sensor fitted.

Frequently asked questions

What does the front hub and bearing assembly include on a Discovery 2?
This front hub and bearing assembly is a pre-built unit for the Discovery 2 (1999-2004), combining the wheel hub, its bearing and the ABS wheel speed sensor in one part. It bolts to the front hub carrier, provides the wheel mounting face and studs, and carries the cornering and drivetrain loads.
What are the signs a front wheel bearing is failing on a Discovery 2?
The main sign of a failing front wheel bearing is a droning or rumbling noise that changes with speed or when cornering. You may also feel play at the wheel or get an ABS warning light, since the speed sensor is built into this hub. Replacing the complete unit fixes both.
Is fitting a front hub assembly a DIY job?
Fitting the front hub assembly is a moderate DIY job on a Discovery 2. The wheel, brake caliper and disc come off, then the hub unbolts from the carrier. The ABS sensor comes fitted to the unit, so there's no separate sensor to install. Torque the hub bolts to the manual specification.
