A-Frame Crossmember is the rear chassis crossmember that carries the A-frame ball-joint mount, anchoring the top link that locates the rear axle laterally and reacts its fore-aft movement under drive and braking loads.

It welds into the rear of the chassis and is a well-known corrosion point on older vehicles. Supplied non-galvanised as a replacement section; because the mount carries significant suspension load, corroded metal should be cut back to sound material and the crossmember fully welded in.

Frequently asked questions

What does the A-Frame Crossmember do on a Land Rover?
The A-Frame Crossmember is the rear chassis crossmember that carries the A-frame ball-joint mount. It anchors the top link that locates the rear axle laterally and reacts its fore-aft movement under drive and braking loads. It fits the Land Rover Defender (up to 2016) and Range Rover Classic (up to 1994).
Is fitting the A-Frame Crossmember a weld-in job?
Yes, the A-Frame Crossmember welds into the rear of the chassis, so fitting is a specialist welding job rather than a bolt-on repair. It's supplied as a non-galvanised replacement section. Corroded metal should typically be cut back to sound material and the crossmember fully welded in, as the mount carries significant suspension load.
Which Land Rovers does the A-Frame Crossmember fit and what is the part number?
The A-Frame Crossmember fits the Land Rover Defender (up to 2016) and Range Rover Classic (up to 1994), both of which locate the rear axle with a coil-sprung A-frame. It carries the Land Rover reference GA3571. Check the condition of your existing chassis mount before ordering.
