Track Rod End ball joint for the front steering linkage, used at the drag link position where the linkage connects to the steering relay or steering arm.

The tapered pin locates in the arm eye and is retained by a castle nut and split pin; the threaded shank screws into the rod tube and is clamped to lock the setting. This is the left-hand thread version - a rod uses one left-hand and one right-hand end so that turning the tube lengthens or shortens the assembly for alignment adjustment without disconnecting either joint.

A worn joint produces play at the steering wheel, imprecise self-centring and accelerated front tyre wear. Renew in pairs and check the steering geometry after fitting.
