Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC5868 track rod end, and how does it differ from RTC5867?
The RTC5868 is the left-hand threaded version of the full-thread track rod end for Series 2 and Series 3 steering linkage. On a Land Rover track rod, one end uses a right-hand thread (RTC5867) and the other a left-hand thread (RTC5868) to allow toe adjustment by rotating the track rod.
What does 'full thread' mean for this track rod end, and why is it critical?
Full thread means the shank is threaded along its entire length. This end must only be fitted to a fully threaded receiver on the track rod or drag link. Fitting it to a plain-bore or partially threaded mounting is incorrect and unsafe for a steering component.
How do I confirm the RTC5868 fits my Series Land Rover?
The RTC5868 fits Series 2 and Series 3 Land Rovers from 1974 to 1984 with axle suffix E onwards. Confirm your axle suffix from the axle plate. This left-hand thread version is paired with the right-hand thread end RTC5867 on the opposite end of the same track rod.
