Track Rod Clamp is a split-tube collar that secures the threaded track rod end into the track rod tube on the front steering axle.

Once the front wheel toe-in has been set by threading the rod end in or out, tightening the clamp locks the adjustment in place. Two clamps are required per vehicle.

Frequently asked questions

What does the track rod clamp 577898 do on a Land Rover steering system?
The track rod clamp 577898 is a split-tube collar that secures the threaded track rod end into the track rod tube on the front steering axle. Once wheel toe-in has been set, tightening the clamp locks the adjustment in place to maintain the steering geometry.
How many track rod clamps are needed per vehicle?
Two clamps are required per vehicle across all applications — Series 1, 2, 2A, 3, Defender, Discovery 1, and Range Rover Classic. One clamp secures each end of the track rod tube, and both must be tight to hold the toe-in setting correctly.
What happens if a track rod clamp is loose or missing on a Land Rover?
A loose or missing clamp allows the track rod end to rotate in the tube, altering the toe-in setting. On Series and Defender vehicles this typically causes rapid uneven front tyre wear, steering wander, and repeated loss of wheel alignment adjustment.
