It is the last Land Rover SUV to use the ladder-frame architecture derived from the original 1970 Range Rover underpinnings. When the Discovery 3 (L319) arrived in 2004 it moved to an entirely different Integrated Body Frame architecture with independent air suspension, meaning no structural, suspension, or driveline parts cross over between the two generations.
