Long Arm Track Rod Ball Joint - the ball joint at the long end of the steering track rod.

It forms the outer part of the lower steering tie rod arrangement, giving the pivoting connection that allows angular movement as the wheels turn and the suspension articulates, while transmitting steering input along the linkage. The long-arm configuration is used where a longer reach from the rack is required.

A worn joint produces steering looseness, knocking from the front end and uneven tyre wear. Have the wheel alignment checked after fitting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the QFS100070 long arm track rod ball joint for?
The QFS100070 is the ball joint for the long arm track rod on the Discovery 2 (1999-2004). It's the pivoting joint that lets the track rod move with the steering and suspension. It's the wearing part of the track rod on the drag link section.
Should I fit just the ball joint or the whole track rod?
The QFS100070 is just the long arm track rod ball joint, not the complete rod. Fit the joint alone if the rest of the Discovery 2 track rod is sound and the old joint separates cleanly. If the rod is seized or worn elsewhere, the full assembly is the better repair.
How do I know the Discovery 2 track rod ball joint is worn?
A worn long arm track rod ball joint on the Discovery 2 typically knocks over bumps, gives vague steering, and wears the front tyres unevenly. Play in the joint is the usual cause. Replacing it tightens the steering, and tracking should be checked once fitted.
