Frequently asked questions

What does the BHF780050 door stay do?

The BHF780050 door stay restrains the lower tailgate (luggage compartment door) as it opens and supports it in the open position. It takes the load of the dropped tailgate and stops the hinge over-extending. This one is the left-hand stay on the split rear door.

Which Land Rover Discovery does this door stay fit?

This luggage compartment door stay fits the left-hand side of the Land Rover Discovery 3 (2005-2009) and Discovery 4 (2010-2016). It's a genuine Land Rover part for the lower tailgate. The Discovery's split tailgate uses a stay on each side, so check you need the left-hand one.

How many luggage compartment door stays are fitted?

The Discovery 3 and 4 lower tailgate uses one stay on each side, left and right. The BHF780050 covers the left-hand side only. If both stays have stretched or the tailgate drops unevenly, you'll typically want to replace them as a pair so the door sits level when open.
