Frequently asked questions

What does the heater blower motor and fan assembly do?
The electric motor drives the squirrel-cage impeller that pulls air into the heater housing and pushes it across the heater matrix and out through the dashboard vents. It provides the airflow for cabin heat, ventilation, and windscreen demisting.
Is this blower motor sold as a complete assembly?
Yes, it's supplied as a complete assembly with the electric motor and fan together, so you don't need to source the impeller separately when replacing a failed unit.
Does this blower assembly fit all Defender Puma models?
It fits the Defender 2007-2016 (Puma) from VIN 7A000001 onward. Check your VIN plate against that break point before ordering, since Puma production spans multiple running changes.
Why does the heater blower motor fail on a Defender?
The motor typically fails from worn brushes or bearing wear after years of continuous use, especially where dust and moisture reach the blower housing. Common symptoms include a noisy fan, intermittent operation, or no airflow at all.
