The electric motor drives the squirrel-cage impeller that draws air into the heater housing and forces it across the heater matrix and out through the dashboard vents, providing the airflow for cabin heat, fresh-air ventilation and windscreen demisting. It is mounted within the heater blower housing and regulated by the fan speed switch.

Frequently asked questions

What does the JGB500050 heater blower motor do?
The JGB500050 heater blower motor drives the squirrel-cage fan that pushes air across the heater matrix and out through the dashboard vents. It powers cabin heat, fresh-air ventilation and windscreen demisting on the Land Rover Defender 2007-2016 (Puma), and is supplied as a complete motor and fan assembly.
What are the signs the heater blower motor needs replacing?
Common signs the heater blower motor is failing are weak or no airflow from the vents, a whining or grinding noise as the fan bearing wears, or the fan only working on some speeds. On the Defender Puma the motor sits in the heater housing and typically fails from worn brushes or bearings.
Which Land Rover Defenders does this blower motor fit?
This blower motor fits the Land Rover Defender 2007-2016 (Puma) from VIN 7A000001. Check your VIN against that break before ordering, as earlier Defenders use a different heater system.
Is replacing the heater blower motor a DIY job?
Replacing the heater blower motor is typically a moderate DIY job. It usually means removing trim to reach the heater housing under the dashboard, then unclipping the old motor and unplugging the connector. Hand tools are usually enough, though cabin access on the Defender Puma can be tight.
