Ball Joint - Suspension Arm is the lower ball joint in the front suspension, fitted at the outer end of the lower wishbone and connecting it to the steering knuckle.

The joint is a principal load-bearing component, carrying the main vertical and lateral forces from the wheel assembly into the lower arm. The unit measures 35 mm in shank diameter. Deterioration manifests as knocking, pull during braking, and uneven tyre wear; replacement before complete failure prevents damage to the steering knuckle.

Frequently asked questions

What does the front suspension arm ball joint do on a Discovery 3 and 4?
This front suspension arm ball joint is the pivot between the suspension arm and the steering knuckle on the Discovery 3 (2005-2009) and Discovery 4 (2010-2016). It carries the vertical and lateral loads from the wheel into the arm while letting the wheel steer and the suspension move.
Which position does this ball joint fit?
On the Discovery 4 (2010-2016) this ball joint fits the front upper and lower suspension arm positions; on the Discovery 3 (2005-2009) it fits the front suspension arm. It suits both armoured B6-level and non-armoured cars. Check the old joint against Land Rover number RBK500280 to confirm the position you need.
What are the signs this ball joint is worn?
A worn front ball joint on the Discovery 3 or 4 typically knocks over bumps, can pull under braking and wears tyres unevenly. A torn boot lets grit in and accelerates the wear. Replace it once play is felt, before it can damage the steering knuckle.
Who manufactures this ball joint?
This ball joint is made by Delphi as an OEM-grade replacement for the Discovery 3 and 4 front suspension arm. It carries Land Rover reference RBK500280 for fitment matching.
