Land Rover heating and air conditioning parts for models including the Series, Defender, Discovery, Freelander and Range Rover: heater matrices, heater valves, pipes and heater units, blower motors and resistors, heater controls, vents and ducts, and air conditioning compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, receiver driers, pipes and O-rings. Air conditioning kits are listed for the Classic Defender, and the engines named in the titles include the 300Tdi, Td5, Td4, V6 and V8. Most heater hoses are in Coolant & Radiator Hoses and most heater control cables are in Mechanical Control Cables. Check the vehicle model and engine first, then the drive side, whether the vehicle has air conditioning, and the model year or VIN where a part changed during a generation.

This collection covers the cabin heater, the blower and its controls, the vents and ducts, and the air conditioning circuit for Land Rover and Range Rover models. It is one of the subcategories of Land Rover Cooling & Heating Parts.
Parts here are listed for the Land Rover Series, Land Rover Defender, Land Rover Discovery, Land Rover Freelander and Range Rover families, including the Classic Defender. For older models covered by the catalogues, use the Land Rover parts catalogues to help identify the correct part number before ordering.
The Defender 300Tdi workshop manual describes a heater assembly made up of a heater matrix in a distribution unit and a variable speed blower motor, attached to the fascia bulkhead, with the matrix connected to the engine cooling system. It lists the air conditioning system as four major units: an evaporator matrix and expansion valve in the heater/cooler unit, an engine-mounted compressor, a condenser in front of the radiator and a receiver/drier, connected by preformed metal and flexible refrigerant pipes.
Most heater hoses are in Land Rover Coolant & Radiator Hoses, and most heater control cables are in Land Rover Mechanical Control Cables. Other Cooling & Heating collections cover Land Rover Radiators, Intercoolers & Tanks, Land Rover Water Pumps, Thermostats & Fans and Land Rover Oil Coolers, Pipes & Hoses.
HEATERSome heater matrix titles state the variant, such as pipe layout, output, drive side or A/C use; others give it only in the listing description, so read both before ordering.
Many matrices carry no model or engine in the title, so confirm the part number against your vehicle.
BLOWER MOTORS AND RESISTORSBlower motors are listed, some titled as motor and fan, and many titles state LHD or RHD. Read the listing description for what is supplied. Blower resistors are listed separately as resistor packs, a resistor kit and resistor control units, including a blower speed resistor for vehicles with A/C. Blower motor and heater wiring harnesses and a heater motor adaptor lead are also listed.
One blower motor title gives a VIN break, from (V) YA256944. Where a title or listing shows a VIN, compare it with your own before ordering.
CONTROLS, VENTS AND DUCTSHeater controls and control assemblies are listed, including LHD, RHD and cable-type versions, together with an air conditioning control assembly and a heater and air conditioning control unit. Knobs, finger grips, a control label, a fan label, a mounting plate and a control pin are listed as separate parts, alongside a heater blend motor and blend stepper motors.
Vents and ducts include a dash vent louvre, facia louvre vent housings, a vent louvre bezel, air vent controls and an air vent mechanism, vent knobs, LH and RH heater ducts, heater deflectors, a demister kit for the windscreen and side windows, a demister tube and a demister hose, and heater-to-bulkhead seals for LHD and RHD.
AIR CONDITIONINGCompressors are listed by engine where the title names one, including the 300Tdi, Td4, 1.8 K Series, 2.5 KV6, 2.2 diesel, 2.7 V6, 3.0 V6 diesel, 4.0 V6 petrol and V8, and some are listed with the clutch or as a kit. Condensers are listed by engine or position where the title names one, with condenser fan assemblies and a condenser kit.
Evaporators, expansion valves and receiver driers are listed separately, as are A/C pipes and hoses named by their route (for example compressor to condenser, or receiver drier to evaporator), A/C O-rings, a coupling, pressure switches and an ambient temperature sensor.
Air conditioning kits for the Classic Defender. Kits are titled for the 300Tdi and the Td5, both LHD, and a TDCi retrofit kit and a front air conditioning kit are also listed. Check the individual listing for what each kit includes and which drive side it suits.
BUYING GUIDEBudget Parts lists Genuine, OEM and aftermarket options in this collection. The available quality tier varies by part, so check the individual product listing when comparing options.
Ordering separately. A/C O-rings, receiver driers, heater seals, blower resistors and heater control knobs are listed as separate parts. Check the individual listing for what is supplied with a part.
BEFORE YOU ORDERCooling and air conditioning checks before hot-weather driving and towing.
Land Rover summer service checklistIn the Defender 300Tdi workshop manual, the heater matrix is connected to the engine cooling system, and the air conditioning system has four major units: the evaporator matrix and expansion valve, the compressor, the condenser and the receiver/drier. Blower motors, resistors, controls and vents are listed in their own sections of this collection.
Yes. Blower motors and blower resistors are listed as separate parts. Some blower motor titles include the fan, and some listings titled only as a blower motor also supply it, so read the listing description for what is supplied.
Many do. Many blower motor titles state LHD or RHD, some heater controls and the heater-to-bulkhead seals are listed separately for LHD and RHD, and some heater matrices, heater assemblies and A/C parts carry LHD in the title. The Defender 300Tdi workshop manual gives separate LH drive and RH drive procedures for the evaporator, expansion valve and heater/cooler unit. Check the drive side in the title and the listing description before ordering.
For the Defender 300Tdi, the workshop manual specifies that the receiver/drier must be renewed whenever the refrigerant system is opened, and its servicing precautions call for refrigerant oil on the seat of the new O-ring before connecting any hose or pipe. The same manual requires new parts fitted to that system to be marked for use with R134a. This is guidance for the Defender 300Tdi system only, so check the workshop manual for your own model. A/C O-rings and receiver driers are listed separately in this collection.
Most heater hoses are in Coolant & Radiator Hoses, and most heater control cables are in Mechanical Control Cables.
