This is a static (non-inertia) belt: the webbing is manually adjusted to length and locked off rather than retracting automatically on a reel. It anchors at three points, with the diagonal strap requiring an upper mounting point in hard top, truck cab and soft top bodies.

What is the GSB300/30 seat belt?
The GSB300/30 is a static three-point seat belt for the front seating position, combining a lap strap and a diagonal shoulder strap in one restraint. It anchors at three points and suits Land Rover Series 2 and 3 and Defender. It's supplied to fit either the left- or right-hand seat.
What does a static seat belt mean?
A static belt is non-inertia: the webbing is manually adjusted to length and locked off, rather than retracting automatically on a reel like a modern belt. On the GSB300/30 you set the length by hand. This is the correct type for older Series and Defender front seats.
What's needed to fit the diagonal strap?
The diagonal shoulder strap needs an upper mounting point on the body, provided in hard top, truck cab and soft top Defenders and Series. Check your vehicle has that upper anchorage before fitting, as the three-point belt relies on it. The lap section anchors at the two lower points.
Can a used seat belt be refitted?
A seat belt should be replaced if the webbing is frayed, cut or faded, or if the buckle won't latch and release cleanly. Any belt that's been in a collision should be replaced, not reused. On the GSB300/30, check the webbing and locking mechanism are sound before relying on it.
