Crankshaft Spigot Bush is the clutch pilot bush that presses into the rear face of the crankshaft, between the engine and the clutch.

It supports and centres the spigot end of the gearbox input shaft as it enters the crankshaft, holding the shaft concentric so the clutch engages and releases cleanly. The bush is renewed whenever the clutch is replaced.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LFB500050LR crankshaft spigot bush for?
The LFB500050LR crankshaft spigot bush (Land Rover part LFB500050) is the clutch pilot bush that presses into the rear face of the crankshaft. It centres the gearbox input shaft where it enters the crankshaft, keeping the shaft concentric so the clutch engages and releases cleanly.
Which Land Rover models does the spigot bush fit?
The spigot bush fits the Defender up to 2016, Series 1, Series 2 and 3, Discovery 1, Discovery 2 and Range Rover Classic. On the Defender it's used with the 2.5 300Tdi and 2.5 five-cylinder turbo diesel engines.
Should the spigot bush be replaced when changing the clutch?
Yes, replace the spigot bush as standard whenever the clutch is renewed. It's already exposed with the gearbox off, and a worn bush lets the input shaft wobble, causing clutch drag or trouble selecting gears. A new one is cheap insurance against a repeat gearbox removal.
What tools are needed to fit the spigot bush?
Fitting the spigot bush typically needs the gearbox and clutch removed first. The old bush is usually drawn out with an internal bearing puller or the grease-packing method, then the new one tapped in square. It's a workshop job most DIY mechanics can manage with the right puller.
