Crankshaft Spigot Bush is the clutch pilot bush that presses into the rear face of the crankshaft, between the engine and the clutch.

It supports and centres the spigot end of the gearbox input shaft as it enters the crankshaft, holding the shaft concentric so the clutch engages and releases cleanly. The bush is renewed whenever the clutch is replaced.

Frequently asked questions

What is the crankshaft spigot bush and what does it do?
The crankshaft spigot bush is the clutch pilot bush that presses into the rear of the crankshaft. It supports and centres the gearbox input shaft as it enters the crankshaft, keeping the shaft concentric so the clutch engages and releases cleanly.
Should the spigot bush be replaced with the clutch?
Yes, the spigot bush is typically renewed every time the clutch is replaced. Access needs the gearbox out anyway, and a worn bush can cause clutch drag, noise or difficult gear selection if it's left in place.
Which Land Rovers does the spigot bush fit?
This spigot bush fits the Land Rover Defender 1987 to 2006 with the 2.5 300Tdi and 2.5 five-cylinder turbo diesel, plus Series 1, 2 and 3, Discovery 1 and 2, and Range Rover Classic.
