Flywheel Assembly for the 2.5L Td5 five-cylinder turbo diesel engine, mounted between the engine and the manual gearbox.

Bolted to the rear of the crankshaft, it carries the starter ring gear and provides the friction surface the clutch clamps against to transmit drive to the gearbox. This is a dual-mass design: two rotating masses coupled through an internal spring and damper set that absorbs torsional vibration and driveline shock, giving smoother running and a quieter drivetrain.
