Shock Absorber for the rear suspension, heavy-duty specification.

The damper is mounted between the rear axle and its chassis bracket and controls the oscillation of the leaf spring after the axle is deflected. It keeps the tyre loaded against the road surface and limits axle movement over rough ground; a heavy-duty unit gives firmer damping under load.

Supplied individually. Replace both sides of the axle together so damping is matched across the axle.

Frequently asked questions

What does this rear shock absorber do?
This rear shock absorber damps the leaf-spring rear suspension on Land Rover Series II, IIA and III, mounting between the rear axle and its chassis bracket. It controls spring oscillation after the axle moves and keeps the tyre loaded over rough ground. This is a heavy-duty specification.
Which Series models does this rear shock fit?
This heavy-duty rear shock absorber fits the long-wheelbase 109 Land Rover Series II, IIA and III. It's supplied individually. Confirm your wheelbase, since short and long wheelbase Series models use different damper lengths.
Should both rear shocks be replaced together?
Replace both rear shock absorbers as a pair so the Series axle is damped evenly. Worn dampers typically show as a bouncy or wallowing ride, poor control over bumps and uneven tyre wear. This unit is supplied singly, so order two for the axle.
