Power Steering Hose - reservoir to pump, steering hydraulic circuit.
Carries fluid from the base of the power steering reservoir down to the inlet side of the power steering pump. This is the low-pressure feed leg of the circuit, so the hose works under suction rather than pressure: as it perishes or its clips relax it tends to draw air into the pump rather than leak fluid out. The symptom is aerated, foaming fluid in the reservoir, a whine from the pump and heavy or inconsistent assistance, often with nothing visible on the driveway.
For Tdi diesel applications with power steering. Refill with the specified fluid and bleed the system after fitting, then recheck the level once the trapped air has worked its way out.
