Land Rover wheel nuts, studs and locking sets for Series, Defender, Discovery, Range Rover and Freelander. This page covers the fixings that hold each wheel on: standard wheel nuts in tapered and flat seat types, wheel studs, full locking wheel nut sets and the replacement keys that go with them. Wheel nuts are matched to the vehicle by thread, seat type and whether the wheel is steel or alloy, so the right nut depends on your model and wheels rather than one size fitting all. Complete wheels and the caps and sensors sit in their own sections, and the wheel braces, spanners and hub nut sockets used to fit them are in Land Rover Workshop Tools. Stocked across our Dutch warehouse network for EU dispatch.

View full detailsThese are the fixings that secure a wheel to the hub and keep it there. The range covers standard wheel nuts, wheel studs where a stud has stripped or sheared, complete locking wheel nut sets that deter wheel theft, and the coded keys that drive those locking nuts. Most Land Rover wheels are held by five nuts, so a full set replaces the lot, while single nuts and studs cover repairs. The wheels themselves sit in road wheels and spares, and the caps, spacers and sensors sit in wheel accessories, so this page stays focused on the fixings.
Wheel nuts are not universal. They differ by thread size, by seat type, and by whether they suit a steel or an alloy wheel. Seat type matters most: a tapered or conical seat nut and a flat or ball seat nut are not interchangeable, because the seat has to match the shape of the hole in the wheel. Thread size and pitch also have to match the stud, with many Land Rover models using a metric thread. The safest guide is your model, year and current wheel type, and matching the new nut to one already on the vehicle.
Locking wheel nut sets replace one nut per wheel with a keyed nut that an ordinary socket cannot turn, which deters wheel and tyre theft. Each set comes with a coded key, and that key is the weak point: lose it and the matching nuts cannot be removed easily. If you have lost the key, you need either the correct replacement key for that pattern or a new locking set, and it helps to know the code or pattern of your existing nuts. Keep the key with the vehicle tools so it travels with the spare.
Wheel studs take the load that the nut clamps against, and a stud can strip or shear from over tightening or a seized nut. Replacing a single stud restores a damaged hole without renewing the hub, provided the new stud matches the thread, length and knurl of the original. If more than one stud on a hub is damaged, it is worth checking the hub and the nuts at the same time so the repair lasts.
It depends on the model, year and whether the wheel is steel or alloy. Wheel nuts vary by thread size, by pitch and by seat type, with tapered seat and flat or ball seat nuts not being interchangeable. The safest check is to match the new nut to one already fitted, or to confirm the thread and seat against your model and current wheels before ordering.
Most Land Rover and Range Rover wheels are secured by five nuts per wheel, so a full set covers all five. Single nuts and studs are useful for repairs when one is damaged. Check the number of studs on your hub to be sure, since fitment can vary across the range.
You need either the correct replacement key for your locking nut pattern, or a complete new locking wheel nut set if the key cannot be matched. It helps to know the code or pattern stamped on your existing key or nuts. Once fitted, keep the key with the vehicle tool kit so it stays with the car.
Yes. A single stud can be replaced to repair a stripped or sheared fixing without renewing the hub, as long as the new stud matches the thread, length and knurl of the original. If several studs on one hub are damaged, check the hub and nuts at the same time so the repair holds.
