Frequently asked questions

What is the 566902 heater control pin used for?

The 566902 is a lock pin used in the heater control or heater flap cable mechanism, holding the cable in position at the control lever. It's a small fixing rather than a serviceable heater component itself.

Where does this pin fit in the heating system?

It's part of the heater flap cable linkage, securing the cable end at the control point so moving the heater lever actually moves the flap. This is a Defender-specific application confirmed via the JLR parts catalogue.

Which Land Rover models use this heater control pin?

This pin is confirmed for Defender models built between 1986 and 2006. It's also listed against Series 2 and 3 models, though that application isn't independently confirmed, so check your specific heater control linkage if you drive a Series vehicle.

Is this pin something I can fit myself?

Fitting a heater control lock pin is typically a simple job accessible from behind the dashboard, needing no special tools beyond basic hand tools. It's a good DIY fix if your heater lever feels loose or disconnected from the flap.
