Wiper Relay is a 5-pin mini relay used in the wiper control circuit to switch the supply to the wiper motor.

The five-pin layout provides a changeover (SPDT) contact set, offering both a normally-open and a normally-closed output. Two terminals feed the control coil; energising the coil transfers the common contact from the normally-closed terminal to the normally-open terminal. This switching action supports wiper park and intermittent operation, where the circuit must route power between two states.

The compact mini footprint fits the standard relay sockets used in the fusebox and relay carriers.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 5-pin mini wiper relay do?

The 5-pin mini wiper relay switches the supply to the wiper motor. Its changeover contact set offers both normally-open and normally-closed outputs, so it can route power between two states. That switching supports wiper park and intermittent operation in the wiper control circuit.

Where is this wiper relay used on Land Rovers?

This wiper relay handles the rear wiper on the Defender from 2007 to 2016 and the windscreen wiper on the Range Rover L322 from 2010 to 2012, from VIN AA000001. It plugs into the standard mini relay sockets in the fusebox or relay carrier.

How is this relay different from a 4-pin relay?

This is a 5-pin changeover relay, so it provides both a normally-open and a normally-closed output from one common contact. A 4-pin relay only gives a single on/off make contact. The wiper circuit needs the changeover action to handle park and intermittent functions.

How do I confirm this wiper relay fits my vehicle?

Check that you need a 5-pin black mini relay for the wiper circuit. This part covers the Defender rear wiper from 2007 to 2016 and the Range Rover L322 windscreen wiper from 2010 to 2012. Compare the pin count and markings on the relay you're replacing before ordering.
