The Range Rover Sport L494 is the second generation of the Sport nameplate, replacing the L320 in 2013 and running through to the arrival of the L461 in 2022. It was the first Range Rover Sport to use the JLR D7u aluminium-intensive platform, a structure shared with the full-size Range Rover L405. The shift to aluminium reduced unladen weight significantly compared to the T5-based L320 and reshaped the parts and service profile of the vehicle.
This collection covers parts for all L494 variants produced between 2013 and 2022, including the standard Sport, HSE, HSE Dynamic, Autobiography Dynamic, and the SVR performance variant. It includes diesel and petrol engine families across the full production run.
Engine variants covered by this collection:
All L494 variants use the ZF 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission as standard. Gearbox service and mechatronic parts may be found in the engine and drivetrain categories. The ZF 8HP is a longitudinally mounted 8-speed unit used across a wide range of JLR and non-JLR applications. Full specification data is available via the ZF 8HP transmission reference.
This collection does not cover the Range Rover Sport L320 (2005 to 2013) or the Range Rover Sport L461 (2022 onward). Parts for those generations are held in separate collections.
Parts CoverageThe L494 has a broad and active parts profile, driven by both routine maintenance demands and platform-specific service categories. The key parts categories represented in this collection include:
The L494 ran for nine years and received several mid-cycle updates. Engine availability changed across the production run, and some parts are engine-specific, variant-specific, or year-band specific. Confirming the correct part before ordering avoids returns and delays.
The most reliable way to confirm fitment is to use your 17-digit VIN. Your VIN encodes your exact engine code, model year, and specification, and allows us to match parts to your specific build. Your VIN is located on the dashboard (visible through the windscreen), inside the driver-side door frame, or in your vehicle registration documents.
If you are ordering for a workshop with multiple L494 vehicles in service, please note the engine suffix code from the vehicle identification plate, as this is the most accurate reference for engine-specific parts such as timing chain kits and turbocharger assemblies.
For fitment queries, contact the Budget Parts team directly via the contact page.
Parts in this collection are marked with one of three quality designations.
Genuine parts are sourced directly from the JLR supply chain and carry the official Land Rover part number. They are the same components fitted at the factory or supplied through authorised dealerships.
OEM parts are produced by the original equipment manufacturer that supplied the part to JLR during vehicle production. These are identical in specification to Genuine parts but are sold outside the dealer network without the Land Rover branding. For many applications, OEM is the correct choice for independent workshops and informed owners.
Aftermarket parts are produced by specialist suppliers to equivalent or improved specifications. Quality varies by manufacturer and application. Budget Parts selects aftermarket lines on the basis of specification fit and durability. Where fitment or quality has not been validated for a specific L494 application, this will be noted on the product listing.

Timing chain kits, gaskets, seals, oil cooler hardware, EGR components, and engine ancillaries across all L494 engine families. Filter to your engine variant on the destination page.
L494 engine parts →Air suspension compressors, air struts, valve blocks, height sensors, suspension arms, ball joints, and bush kits for the L494 D7u platform.
L494 suspension parts →Brake discs, pads, caliper hardware, ABS sensors, and brake pipe sections covering standard, dynamic, and SVR brake specifications.
L494 brake parts →The guides below provide fault diagnosis, maintenance context, and parts selection support for the L494. Collection pages focus on helping you find the correct part. The guides provide the technical background to help you understand what you need and why.
The primary technical reference for the L494. Covers engine profiles, known fault categories across diesel and petrol variants, and parts compatibility guidance for European owners. Read this before ordering if you are diagnosing a fault rather than carrying out a scheduled service.
Range Rover Sport L494 faults guide →The 3.0 TDV6 and SDV6 engines fitted to many L494 diesels use a timing chain, not a belt. This guide explains the system, the service implications, and why partial replacements carry risk. Essential reading before ordering a timing chain kit for an L494 diesel.
3.0 TDV6 timing chain guide →Ball joint and suspension arm condition is directly relevant to the L494 front-end geometry. Covers how to identify worn ball joints, test procedure, and replacement guidance applicable to Land Rover platforms including the L494.
Land Rover ball joint failure guide →The full Range Rover model family, including all Sport generations and full-size Range Rover variants.
Range Rover parts →Parts for the first-generation Range Rover Sport (2005 to 2013), the predecessor to the L494 on the T5 platform.
Range Rover Sport L320 parts →The full-size L405 Range Rover shares the JLR D7u aluminium platform with the L494 and many drivetrain components cross-fit between the two.
Range Rover L405 parts →This collection covers all engine variants fitted to the Range Rover Sport L494 between 2013 and 2022. Diesel variants include the 3.0 TDV6 (258 hp), the 3.0 SDV6 (306 hp and 340 hp hybrid), the 4.4 SDV8, and the 2.0 Ingenium SD4 (introduced from approximately 2017). Petrol variants include the 3.0 AJ-V6 supercharged, the 3.0 Ingenium I6 MHEV, the 2.0 Ingenium PHEV (P400e), and the 5.0 AJ-V8 supercharged including SVR-specification builds.
Yes. The SVR is a high-performance variant of the L494, available from 2015 with the 5.0 litre supercharged AJ-V8. Parts that are common across the L494 range (suspension components, braking hardware, electrical items) are compatible with the SVR unless the product listing states otherwise. Engine-specific and drivetrain-specific parts for the SVR 5.0 V8 are listed separately where fitment differs from the diesel or standard petrol variants.
Use your 17-digit VIN to confirm fitment before ordering. Your VIN encodes your exact engine code, model year, and specification. It is located on the dashboard (visible through the windscreen), on the driver-side door frame, or in your registration documents. For engine-specific parts such as timing chain kits, also note the engine suffix code from your vehicle identification plate. If you are unsure, contact the Budget Parts team with your VIN and we can confirm the correct part.
Genuine parts carry the official Land Rover part number and are sourced through the JLR supply chain. OEM parts are produced by the original equipment manufacturer that supplied the same component to JLR during production. They are identical in specification to Genuine parts but sold outside the dealer network. Aftermarket parts are produced by specialist suppliers to equivalent specifications. All three tiers are represented in this collection. The product listing for each item indicates the quality tier and any fitment notes.
Some parts are shared between the L494 and the L405 because both vehicles use the JLR D7u aluminium platform and share several drivetrain components. However, many body, interior, and suspension parts differ between the two models despite the shared platform. Always verify fitment by model and VIN before ordering. Do not assume L405 parts will fit an L494 or vice versa unless the product listing confirms dual fitment.
No. The timing chain assembly differs between engine families fitted to the L494. The 3.0 TDV6 and SDV6 use a chain-driven timing system with a specific kit including chain, guides, tensioner, and associated bolts. The 2.0 Ingenium SD4 diesel uses a different timing arrangement. Always identify your exact engine variant before ordering a timing chain kit. If you are unsure which engine is fitted, your VIN or engine suffix code will confirm this.
