Aftermarket Part
Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ETC5187 crankshaft oil seal and what does it do?
The ETC5187 is the front crankshaft oil seal for the 2.25L and 2.5L four-cylinder petrol engines. It sits in the front timing cover where the crankshaft nose passes through, running on the pulley hub to stop engine oil escaping past the crankshaft. One is fitted per engine.
When is the front crankshaft oil seal usually replaced?
The front crankshaft oil seal is typically renewed during timing cover, front pulley or timing chain work, since access needs the pulley removed. A leak here usually shows as oil weeping from the front of the engine. Replacing it while the cover is off avoids a repeat job.
How many crankshaft oil seals are needed for the job?
One ETC5187 seal is needed per engine, as there's a single seal at the crankshaft front. It's typically fitted with a fresh timing cover gasket during reassembly on the 2.25L and 2.5L petrol engines. Order one per engine you're working on.
