The timing belt synchronises the crankshaft with the camshaft and injection pump on the 2.5L 4-cylinder NA and turbo diesel (pre-TDi). The toothed belt keeps valve and injection timing correct so the engine runs in time.

Does this belt fit TDi engines?

No. This belt is for the 2.5L 4-cylinder NA diesel and 2.5L turbo diesel only, not the later 200TDi or 300TDi. Confirm you have the pre-TDi 2.5 diesel before ordering, as the TDi uses a different belt.

Should I replace the tensioner with the timing belt?

Yes. Renew the timing belt tensioner at the same time as the belt. They share the same service life, and reusing a worn tensioner can cause the new belt to fail early.
