The RTC299310 kit supplies a complete set of connecting rod big-end bearing shells at 0.010 inch undersize for Land Rover 2.5 petrol, 2.5 diesel, 2.5 turbo diesel, 200TDi and 300TDi engines. It's used when the crankshaft big-end journals have been reground 0.010 inch undersize during a rebuild.

When do I need the 0.010 inch undersize bearings instead of standard?

You need the 0.010 inch undersize shells when the crankshaft connecting rod journals have been machined 0.010 inch down from standard. Fitting standard-size shells to a reground crank leaves excessive clearance and low oil pressure. Always match the bearing size to the crank's actual journal size.
