Frequently asked questions

What does the exhaust stud 568664 do on a Land Rover 2.25 petrol engine?
The exhaust stud 568664 is a 5/16 UNF threaded stud that secures the manifold outlet flange to the front pipe, clamping the joint and maintaining the exhaust gas seal. It's specific to the 2.25 petrol engine on Series 2, 2A, and 3 models.
How many exhaust studs are needed for the manifold-to-front-pipe joint on a Series 2 or 3?
Three studs are required per vehicle for the manifold-to-front-pipe joint on the 2.25 petrol engine. Each stud passes through the front pipe flange and is retained by a nut to clamp the joint.
Can seized exhaust manifold studs be removed without drilling on a Land Rover Series?
Seized exhaust studs are a very common problem on older Series engines. Penetrating fluid and heat is usually the first approach, but deeply corroded studs often require drilling out and rethreading. Replacing all three studs as a set is advisable whenever the front pipe is removed.
