What does the inlet manifold stud do?
The inlet manifold stud threads into the cylinder head and provides the fixing point for the inlet manifold. The manifold nut runs onto the stud to clamp the manifold and its gasket against the head face. It has a UNF thread and is supplied as a single stud.
Which engines use this UNF inlet manifold stud?
This stud fits the four-cylinder petrol engines with the three-bearing crankshaft that use UNF-thread fasteners, as found on Series 2, 2A and 3 and early Defender. UNF and metric studs aren't interchangeable, so confirm your engine uses UNF threads before fitting.
How many of these studs are needed?
This is supplied as a single stud, and a four-cylinder inlet manifold uses several. Count the stud positions on your manifold and order the quantity you need. It's worth renewing any studs with damaged or stretched threads at the same time to get an even clamp on the gasket.
