Vlamdover past in het carterventilatiesysteem van de V8-benzine-motor met dubbele carburateur, tussen de carterontluchting en de carburateurinlaat.

De interne gaas vangt elke vlam van een carburateurterugslag op, waardoor deze niet terug kan schieten in het carter, terwijl carterdampen nog steeds in de inlaat kunnen worden gezogen en verbrand. Een verstopte vlamdover beperkt de motorventilatie en kan de carterdruk verhogen, daarom wordt deze vernieuwd als onderdeel van het reguliere onderhoud.

No, this flame trap is specific to the twin-carburettor V8 fitted to the Series 2 and 3, Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. EFI V8 engines use a different crankcase breather arrangement, so check your engine is the carburettor version before ordering.
