Frequently asked questions

What is the BTR7071 Facia Louvre Vent Housing and what does it do?
The BTR7071 is the OEM facia louvre vent housing for air-conditioned Defenders (1987-2006) and Range Rover Classic (1992-1994, from VIN JA610294). Mounted in the dashboard, it houses the directional louvre and channels air from the heating and A/C ductwork into the cabin.
Does this fit Defenders without air conditioning?
This is the A/C-equipped facia variant only. Defenders without air conditioning use a different facia vent housing that's not interchangeable with this part.
What typically causes this vent housing to need replacing?
The louvre vanes typically crack or seize over time due to UV exposure and age, making airflow direction impossible to adjust. Broken retaining clips that cause the housing to fall out of the facia are also a common reason to replace it.
