What does the Watts linkage centre pivot do on a Discovery 2?
The Watts linkage centre pivot is the pivoting centre of the rear Watts linkage on the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1999-2004). It locates the rear axle laterally while letting it move up and down with suspension travel. It's supplied with the pivot bushes pre-fitted.
Why does the Watts linkage centre pivot fail on a Discovery 2?
The centre pivot fails when its bushes perish or the pivot wears, usually from age and road grime. Symptoms are typically a knock or clunk from the rear axle over bumps and vague rear-end handling. Replacing it restores proper lateral location of the rear axle.
How many Watts linkage centre pivots does a Discovery 2 need?
One centre pivot per vehicle. The rear Watts linkage uses a single central pivot on the axle, so one unit completes the repair. This one includes the bushes pre-fitted, so you don't need to source them separately.
