Koperen afdichtring gebruikt voor het afdichten van een schroefdraad- of banjo-aansluiting in brandstof- en smeercircuits.

Het zachte koper vervormt bij het aandraaien en past zich aan de tegenoverliggende oppervlakken aan, waardoor een gas- en vloeistofdichte afdichting ontstaat bij aansluitingen zoals banjobouten, injectorkoppelingen en aftappluggen. Gebruikt voor dieselmotortoepassingen.

Een koperen ring is voor eenmalig gebruik: deze moet telkens worden vervangen wanneer de verbinding wordt losgemaakt om een betrouwbare afdichting te garanderen.
