Aftermarket Part
Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.

Frequently asked questions

What does the NRC7791 choke cable do?
The NRC7791 choke cable operates the carburettor choke on V8 Land Rover Defenders from the dashboard control. Pulling the control draws the inner cable to close the choke and enrich the mixture for cold starting; pushing it back reopens the choke as the engine warms. This is the left-hand-drive version.
Which Defender does this choke cable fit?
This choke cable fits the Land Rover Defender with the V8 carburettor engine in left-hand-drive configuration. It's specific to carburettor V8 applications, so it won't suit injected engines. Confirm your engine and dashboard choke control before ordering, as cable routing differs between variants.
Why do choke cables fail on the V8 Defender?
Choke cables on the V8 carburettor Defender typically fail when the inner cable stretches, frays, or seizes in its outer sleeve, often from corrosion or a stiff carburettor mechanism. Symptoms include a slack or stuck choke control and poor cold starting. A binding cable can hold the choke partly closed, causing a rich mixture and rough running.
