Ook bekend als de pitmanarm, klemt de hefboom op de spie-uitgaande as van de stuurinrichting en verbindt via het conische kogelgewricht met de spoorstang, waardoor de roterende output van de stuurinrichting wordt omgezet in de lineaire beweging die de wegwielen stuurt. The steering lever, or drop arm, clamps onto the splined output shaft of the Adwest power steering box and links to the drag link through its tapered ball joint.
