This oil filter suits the 2.0-litre IOE petrol engine in the Series 1 and the 2.6-litre 6-cylinder IOE petrol engine in the Series 2, 2A and 3. It traps metal particles and carbon from the circulating oil, protecting the bearings and oil galleries.

What does IOE mean?

IOE stands for inlet-over-exhaust, the valve layout of these early petrol engines. The filter sits in the engine's lubrication circuit and is changed with the oil during routine servicing to keep the oil clean.
