Carburettor Damper for the SU constant-velocity carburettor fitted to Series Land Rover petrol engines.

The damper assembly fits into the top of the dashpot (suction chamber) and provides hydraulic resistance to the upward movement of the suction piston under rapid throttle opening. This controlled damping momentarily prevents an over-lean condition on acceleration, suppressing the hesitation or flat spot that occurs without the damper or with insufficient damper oil in the reservoir.
