Exhaust Rocker Shaft is the shaft on which the exhaust rocker arms are mounted within the cylinder head valve train of the 2.6L 6-cylinder petrol engine.

The rocker shaft locates and supports the exhaust rocker arms, which transmit camshaft lift to the exhaust valve stems. Oil is fed through the hollow shaft to lubricate the rocker arm bushes. This shaft is specific to the exhaust side of the rocker assembly; the inlet side uses a separate shaft.

Frequently asked questions

What does this exhaust rocker shaft do?
It's the rocker shaft for the exhaust side of the valve train on the 2.6L six-cylinder petrol engine. It supports the exhaust rocker arms, which transfer camshaft lift to the exhaust valve stems, and feeds oil through its hollow bore to lubricate the rocker arm bushes.
Is this the same shaft used for the inlet rockers?
No, this shaft is specific to the exhaust side only. The inlet rocker arms run on a separate shaft, so don't use this part to replace an inlet-side shaft.
Which engine and models does this fit?
It's for the 2.6L six-cylinder petrol engine fitted to Series II, IIA and III Land Rovers. Confirm your engine variant before ordering, since rocker shaft specs can differ between engine revisions.
Why does the exhaust rocker shaft wear?
The rocker arm bushes running on this shaft wear over time from oil starvation or high mileage, causing increased valve train noise and uneven exhaust valve clearances. Replace the shaft if the bushes show scoring or the bore has worn oval.
